NEx Releases Featured Talk by David Lai: "Slab-on-Grade Support Heavy Load Modelling and Design"

At the ACI 2025 Spring Convention in Toronto, ON, NEx hosted a technical workshop titled “Design of GFRP-Reinforced Slabs-on-Ground and Paving.” David Lai, one of 11 featured speakers, delivered a session titled “Slab-on-Grade Support for Heavy Load – Modelling and Design.” In this presentation, Lai explored advanced modeling strategies for designing ground-supported slabs capable of withstanding heavy structural loads.

David Lai, P.Eng., is a seasoned structural engineer with over 40 years of experience in civil and structural engineering. He holds a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from McGill University and is a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK). David specializes in the modeling, analysis, and design of ground-supported slabs and heavy-load structural systems. His expertise lies in blending advanced modeling approaches with practical, field-tested solutions for durable infrastructure.
