NEx Releases Featured Talk by Peter Taylor: "Guidelines for Using FRP Dowels in Concrete Pavement."
At the ACI 2025 Spring Convention in Toronto, ON, NEx organized a workshop on "Design of GFRP-Reinforced Slabs-on-Ground and Paving." Peter Taylor, one of 11 featured speakers in the series, presented a practitioner-focused session titled “Guidelines for Using FRP Dowels in Concrete Pavement.” In this presentation, Taylor shares key insights from a newly published NEx report authored by Dr. Mark B. Snyder, offering a comprehensive overview of the role FRP dowels can play in improving the durability and performance of concrete pavement systems. Drawing on decades of research and practical experience, Taylor discusses strategies for using FRP dowels in real-world projects—highlighting design considerations, installation techniques, and field performance outcomes. The session is tailored for engineers, specifiers, and contractors seeking to better understand how FRP dowels can replace traditional steel while offering corrosion resistance and long-term value.
